Mad Hat Cider, locally made and served at Draughtsmen Aleworks in Goleta, CA

How do you like them apples?

We loved our apple juice as kids and now we get the adult version – hard cider. Draughtsmen is making hard cider called Mad Hat Cider.

About Our Cider.

We try and keep two ciders on tap at the brewery in Goleta. On-tap you’ll consistently see the traditional hard cider made from an apple blend. It is a dry style with a touch of sweet and mild tart notes. It is bright, medium body, smooth, balanced and naturally gluten-free. (5.5% alc)

We also have one rotating hard cider on-tap that is made from an apple blend but we add a creative flair. Sometime these flavors are random ideas that we think will work, sometimes they are ideas that are meticulously planned and sometimes they are suggestions from you. We come up with new flavors to delight ourselves. If we like it, we hope you will too! Creative ideas are born out of experiences. However, we know these experiences are far from perfectly formed or aligned. In this case, we aim for creativity that tastes great!

Our current cider flavor is super fruit - tea and pomegranate juice. Once the rotating flavor is almost gone we are on to making the next flavor. If something sounds good – you better drink it when you see it because we rotate the flavor as soon as that keg is tapped.

Up Next.

The flavors up next are "cran-apple" and "black cherry-apple”. Our ciders are complex blends, yet they remain well balanced, refreshing and delicious!

Fun Facts.

The history of cider is deep. We are talking 1300 B.C. That’s as far back as Egyptian pharaohs! Did you know our founding fathers were avid cider producers, having their own apple orchards for cider-making? If the leaders of the United States wanted cider, what do you think everyone else wanted? Cider!

Mad Hat Ciders are only available on-tap or to-go in growlers or 4-packs at our brewery in the Goodland (Goleta, CA)
